Official Northern Heritage announcement:
!!! OUT NOW NH-035 !!!

*CLANDESTINE BLAZE / SATANIC WARMASTER - CD
Long awaited CD finally out! Recorded already in december 2002 in dirty
concrete basement, waiting to see light of day when time was right . 4 songs
(+intro + outro) recorded in collaboration of CB+SW and 1 normal solo track
from both bands (recorded in different sessions), in total over 45 minutes
of pure black metal from Finland! Soundwise very dark and rough recording,
done with most primitive methods with simple analogue 4-tracker. Songs vary
from fast and furious to heavy, almost doomy old school black metal. Cover
comes with all the lyrics and gatefold LP (to be released in 1-2 months)
will not have bonus tracks. Also design in covers is very similar in both
formats.

Also available from me directly, feel free to ask for trades!

Not really. I smoked some cigarettes, though. It's not really the best way to capture a pure essence audially while intoxicated.

Great news! The song on the Krieg-Split already blew me away. And a collaboration of two such BM-acts surely kills.

But will this release only be available through you/NH or will other distros also carry this one. I don't really like to pay the high postage from finland to germany.

Werwolf
09-02-04, 15:25
Yes, it will be available on many distributors in the future, most likely such as Drakkar, No Colours, Christhunt and several other small and large distributions.

The price directly ordered from me is 15 euro.

vintyr

I take it it will be available through Total Holocaust's distro?

This is my usual distributer...

That's a bold statement. Sounds promising though.

Ok, I got it... I will give a review about it (track by track) for those who want to get this.

1) Intro - My Torments (CB/SW) 7:39

One mnt intro then the song starts with a guitar playing a slow riff (trying to capture a dark mood) then the drums kicks in all over it for another mnt. At 3:40 the music speeds up to sound exactly as an UNDER A FUNERAL MOON track, with blasting drums and trebly (low) guitar that has some mistakes (also sometimes get out of tune) played under CULTO's way of vocals but in a weaker way.

2) Sacrificial Fires (CB/SW) 4:21

A doomish/heavy track. A doomy palm muted riff followed by a very basic naiive heavy riff (that's the whole song). Vocals are a sort of growling with some reverb added to them. A very boring song and fails terribly in creating an EVIL mood.

3) Conspiring Winds Of The Abyss (CB/SW) 6:30

Like the first track, another Darkthrone song but, this time it's a TRANSILVANIEN HUNGER imitation (I prefer listening to Darkthrone).

4) Disease (CB/SW) 4:43

This time, it's more like The Black Legions style. An Ok track, sadly ruined by the vocals which sound like a woman screaming in fear!

5) Guided By Black Light (CB) 7:27

What is this? A hardcore/pissed of teanagers stuff?? No thanks, I prefer the first 4 tracks!

6) To The Legions (SW) 11:52

No thanks... NO.

ah ah, if you were not such a big pussy you could have noticed that some riffs are totaly Vlad Tepes inspired. Why is it that every band must be compared with Darkthrone, cant your blade cut any deeper?

Apart from this...I am amazed with this shit until now, fucking killer.

Fuck your natural stupidity.

Some SATANIC WARMASTER songs are sometimes clearly inspired (indeed from BL, for example), but talent is definitely there.
CLANDESTINE BLAZE is surprising, as originality meets ultra-classicism in his music.

I'm awaiting this splitCD with great expectations...

Comparing everything to Darkthrone is serisously fucking lame.
I havent heard the cd yet, but in no way would Demise's review effect my thought of it..

"This sucks, it sounds like Darkthrone"

hmmm.. thats a bad thing?

I am a Happy HO HO down in Old Cabo

I am the local star

My review:

Track 1:
Intro sounds torture chamber effects/Stalaggh inspired but nice anyway. The track itself is fucking awesome, great riff nice SW-like up-tempo song.
Track 2:
Very boring.
Track 3:
Okay.
Track 4:
Much like the opening track, it kills!
Track 5:
Not very interesting.
Track 6:
Nice "Groovy" start ;) , solid finish.
Track 7:
Outro, suitable for this cd.

Overall this split cd sound like an expiriment for the 2 bands, new sounds, ideas and methods some of them I liked and some I didnt like.
Track 1,4,6 have a great atmosphere the rest is a bit too much B material IMO.

Excellent material imo, my faves being the solo songs by each band.

Why SW did change the musical direction after the first album?
I think it was great.

What change exactly? That the material isn't so close to each other to each other on any of our releases, except songwriting-wise? I know the 1st album has a very special atmosphere, and we drifted away from it later, but we are not "progressing", it's just our expression and the mood that affects the outcome. Musically we are almost completely the same, only the sound and the feeling evolve. Also, even if we made just that one great album, shouldn't it be enough for the next 50 years?

And how it must be? Melodies played in "tremolo" picking?

Demise

Musically we are almost completely the same, only the sound and the feeling evolve.

No you didn't. But, I wounder what you will play next?!

The demo had its style, 1st album another, BK a totaly different one, and now this!!!
Why you don't evolve around ONE mood isntead of shifting, from melodic, depressive, evil, doomy, etc...

Also, even if we made just that one great album, shouldn't it be enough for the next 50 years?

DEFENITLY NOT!! I think this is hypocrisy, doing ONE good album and make the band's name live on it forever!
You, as a musician, can't be satisfied with anything you release (to a certain degree).

Gvest666

Yes, just take Demises advise. You should think on your audiences and please your fans. And you should also play always the same shit or it will take people like Demise into a confused mental state. Don´t you ever forget that blackmetal is about this.
And make sure that in future releases you (and this goes to every band) put in the booklet which darkthrone song/album should people do comparisons with.

Demise
01-03-04, 13:49
I don't know why ur'e so pissed off guest!!!

And you should also play always the same shit or it will take people like Demise into a confused mental state.

That's stupid... I was talking about the mood not the style and way of playing. I can't see anything wrong in keeping the same mood while evolving around it in whatever way!!

And make sure that in future releases you (and this goes to every band) put in the booklet which darkthrone song/album should people do comparisons with.

90% of the BM bands go for the tremolo picking following the steps of Burzum, Mayhem and Darkthrone. Thus, whatever comparison you want to draw to ANY band playing in the same vein, these 3 bands are evident. Why? Because 90% of them are not creating somthing original. Same notes following, same chords positions etc... They don't even bother with doing a new formula in this damn tremolo stuff!
Let's see which influences you can point at to this split beside Vlad Tepes??!?!? Without mentioning the Vlad Tepes influences (the 3 above mentioned bands and few more).

Don't you ever wounder why Beherit's, Blasphemy's, Sarcofago's, Order From Chaos's, Conqueror's, Revenge's, Sacramentary Abolishment's etc... influences aren't as much as fucking Darkthrone?!?!?

Really boy, if you don't like it, stop bitching. If you don't like people changing their mood, you really have problems with the world.

So which one is hypocrisy really, not compromising for the sake of my own artistic satisfaction or not compromising for your "fans" and dengenerating the already used formula by cloning your own albums, when you can enjoy the one good album for as long as you like?

You know, jesus was nailed to the cross only once, too.

If you are so hot for Bestial and Chaotic Metal, what the fuck attracts you even to mention Satanic Warmaster anyway? Also if it's any concern to you, Beherit is to me a million times more important influence than Darkthrone.

got the disc a few days ago and honestly, I find it disappointing. some of it works, but some of it doesn't. SW and CB are two of my favorite modern European BM bands, so I was really psyched, but some of the tracks just seemed to drag. I can see the black legions influence though.

I don't have a problem. Everyone is free to do whatever he wants, not my concern.

I know that you like Beherit, but no, it's not in your music AT ALL! As after all Beherit is Chaotic!!!!

I agree. The echo on the track really creates a morbid/hypnotic feeling to this track, one of the best SW tracks imo.
