View Full Version : Transylvanian Hunger
This is probably the only musical piece in the world that can still my most hatefull and depressive emotions.
My question is, are there more of this kind of BM lofi albums?
I know of Ulver-Nattens madrigal, that was a nice try but not really my thing.
Some other albums that I praise for their anti-everything feeling are:
Satanic Warmaster-Strenght and Honor(nice and raw, maybe a little bit to much melody but still harsh enough)
Abigor-Channeling the quentessence of satan(i always liked this album, its very harsh and dusky)
Emperor-Wrath of the Tyrant
So if you can recommend something in the vein of the albums that were mentioned above I will be very thankfull. Im looking for a unique production, unlimited hate and digust for makind and integrity no fucking corny rip-offs without passion and/or inspiration..
I usually shun this kind of discussion, for personal tastes is something we can argue about forever, and to no good. But I simply have to advice you to listen to Deathspell Omega of France or Katharsis of Germany if you haven't yet. These bands possess that primitive essence of what you mentioned, and are in ways taking it, even one or two steps further.
Too many bands have attempted to rip-off this album, but almost all of them failed. Even the ones that sounded desent still weren't within a million miles...
I'd mention the early works of Judas Iscariot!!!
N.
Clandestine Blaze.
Definitely chilling.

I think some the best Darkthrone influenced bands were already mentioned (CB, DSO, JI, K), and agreeing with Whorth some of them take some steps further in certain aspects.
I just felt the only one left was Warloghe
but I warn you that you will not get the anti-everything feeling you seem to be looking for... (hmph)
I still preffer UNDER A FUNERAL MOON 1000times more...
Looking for worst than Darkthrone ?
Well, just try Beherit.
'nuff said.

yes I really like Death Spell Omega's Inquisitors of Satan havent heard Katharsis yet.
One album that carries the full anti package is Mutiilation - Vampires of Black Imperial blood. Beherit is too much indifferent Death metal for me. I think Clandestine blaze is nice but I dont like the sound and the vocals(only heard Fist of the northern destroyer and the DSO/CB split.) Hail Under a funeral moon!
Judas Iscariot - Heaven in flames is a nice example of a positive Dark Throne offspring.
...and let's not leave the eminent CRAFT out of this discussion who sound as DarkThrone could have sounded if they had devloped in a better way.

too much death metal influences and too much random satanic, I think its a little bit unserious and indifferent.
BEHERIT is satanic chaos !!!!!!
But I agree with you it has nothing to do with what you're searching for.
You must check KATHARSIS !

Seriously, you're listening to (black) metal for 2 years or what ?
"too much random satanic" what does that mean ?
Beherit is chaotic BLACK metal. Too much death metal influences heheheh what about bands like Incantation too much black metal influences ?
Back to Raven and so on, try Bloodhammer but maybe it is too much thrash metal influenced for you (humm)

Katharsis would be closer to "under a funeral moon" in my opinion but still you must check this band for they are one of the very best band of today ug.
The first album of Godless north is quite similar to TH too: cold, primitive & monotonous (the right way)
Clandestine blaze, deathspell omega, craft, warloghe...
The eye, first and only demo.

Amazing demo but nothing I could relate to "Transylvanian Hunger". I find "Normanniska" features a much more uplifting music. I love "TH" , though.

i have always felt, that in terms of pure evoking darkness and originality, that Watain surpasses 99% of all blackmetal out there.....
and like some are recommending, Katharsis are a religious experience that channels through every inch of your being

i thought that was quite laughable as well
Ok I just ordered Kruzifixxion, Im very curious since everyone is talking about it and as a good 16 year old newbie ;) I must have anything that is hot and kult hehe.
The new katharsis is indefinitely worth it.
Check out DEMONCY's "Joined In Darkness", it sounds like "TH" meets "UAFM" with low tuned guitars. The opening riff on the album is the same riff as "Natassja In Eternal Sleep"...

I really didn't like that album when I first heard it, but it's started to grow on me big time in the last month or so...
Try Temple Of Baal "Servants of the Beast", pure Dark throne worship
i always concidered "to embrace the corpses bleeding" as the legitimate follow up of t. hunger. if we are talking about u.t.f.m. one should mention "light of a dead star" by nehemah. not to forget the genuine craft. watain rather have done the biggest step towards the best bm album ever, and that is definitely not from darkthrone.
Sargeist - Satanic Black Devotion
Why hasn't this been mentioned yet?

I think D.T. could have sounded more like ALTAR OF PERVERSION "From Dead Temple" if they didn't turned that bad...
but that doesn't sound at all like Transylvanian Hunger, though...

I have no idea.
Sargeist is on my top 3 favorite bands of these past 5 or 6 years, actually maybe of all time, it's as much they kill for me.

Yes, Panzerfaust was the last interesting DT and what a finish !
"Total Death" was the last good DT album...
I don't know what's so interresting mentioning bands's names re-doing what have been done!!!
Dark feelings in Watain?!?! I say it's a great album but sory, I can't find anything Evil and Dark in it. I would go for Bethlehem as it captures the darkness and depressive mood at its best!
According to Beherit, well Mr, Thoth (whatever), seems that your naiive ears weren't infiltrated by bands like Blasphemy, Conqueror, Revenge, Angel Corpse, Black Witchery, Order From Chaos ect...
Btw... Beherit was considered by the band to be a "Brutal Death Metal" band (You can see it on theitr early flyers).
If I remember correctly, the initial poster sought for something which proclamated similar atmosphere to the one of DT's "Panzerfaust" album.
You are perhaps right (and I said in my first post that discussing tastes is pointless) when saying that namedropping bands that remind of DT may be pointless.
Or as you put it "re-doing what have been done"... which was not the point at all in my and some other posts, eventough some ppl just said "this band sounds like panzerfaust" and so on.
But then again, if you are not able to find any evil or darkness in Watain, you are obviously deaf, unable to read and retarded so nevermind I tried to adress you at all.
...And I say that as a listener of Watain who has written no material for them ever, eventough I have helped them out in livesituations. If you think I am "non-objective" or "defending my band" because of that, so be it, but I was a "fan" of Watain long before I joined them as a live-sessionmember.
I think it's more than obvious that Watain is a pure dark and evil energy... seems even silly to have to write it. *shrugs*

Probably the most stupid statement I could read today.
Nothing against Bethlehem though, don't get me wrong.

Exellent band there !!!!

As I said, I think Watain is great. There is a dark and evil feeling yes, but compared to what had been done and re done and and and ... I think the feeling just became so normal that to me.
It's raw and savage yes, but EVIL, I don't know. It's my opinion after all.

If its evil you want, then check out VON - Satanic Blood and DEMONCY - Faustian Dawn.
Akitsa - Sang Nordique
Behexen - Rituale Satanum
Primigenium - Intolerance
Eternal Majesty - From War To Darkness
Graven - Perished And Forgotten
......
ok everything fine....but that Graven stuff...that is truly totaly rip off music...I mean when I heard the first song on Perished And Forgotten I thought is a Natassja cover version... :/
I understand when a band is inpsired by other acts...but this band is totaly rip off in my eyes...and especialy in my ears...
To all the Thoth-bashers out there, yall need to stop frontin on a nigga, dont playahate muhahaha .
seriously I think you didnt understand my intentions on this one, because Beherit(Death Metal), Eternal Majesty and Graven is not what I was looking for, but thanks anyway.

Urgehal's Arma Christi is great, also the Gontyna Kry's Welwowie, Akitsa - Goetie, Arkona's Zeta Reticuli and the mighty Belgium Horde of Lugubrum (all of them)

What you think is a Death Metal influence is the blatant grindcore influence that Oath Of The Black Blood was. If you don't like it then fuck off and don't claim it to be something it's not.
If you don't like Beherit...find something else to do. I've seen life-loving NSBMers who've been into the scene for years and not heard a lick of Beherit fall in love with "Drawing Down The Moon" upon the first listen.
