"A prosecutor in Poland has launched an investigation into whether a concert by the black metal band GORGOROTH has breached the country's law protecting religion. The Norwegian band are suspected of having sent a hateful and offensive message with their performance Sunday (Feb. 1) at the Krakow studios of Polish Television.

The show, which was to be filmed for an upcoming DVD, featured two naked women (with hoods over their heads) and one naked man, all of them "crucified" and covered in sheep blood, a number of sheep heads on spikes and sheep entrails thrown all over the stage, as well as approximately 80 liters of fresh sheep blood. During the performance, which was attended by an audience of 300, one of the models reportedly fainted from the lack of oxygen. The TV show's producers, who were not briefed in advance about the nature of the concert, were said to "shocked" by the activities on stage. The manager of the studio, Andrzej Jeziorek, notified the police and the recorded footage was confiscated by the authorities as evidence of a possible crime.

The TV crew, who had filmed various metal performances before (including those by CANNIBAL CORPSE, CHILDREN OF BODOM and ANATHEMA, among others), claimed in the Polish media that they had never seen anything quite as "horrific" as GORGOROTH's live show. "We were not repulsed, we were terrified!" the camera operators were quoted as saying by the Polish newspapers.

The concert promoters reportedly defended themselves by saying that all the people who came to watch the show were satisfied and none of them complained about having had their religious beliefs offended in any way ."

well they are not doing it at every gig because i assume it requires some money and some logistics (you can't do that in a pub eheh)

Nuclear Blast has money but only invest it when they see it´s for something they can profit of and well,with this DVD i´m sure they would get some money back cos if you ask me,I bet it was a Hell of a show.

I do agree with you N.H. . My interest in Gorgoroth stopped with Incipit Satan but they made some of my faves albums ever ! Pentagram, Antichrist and Under The Sign Of Hell will remain for me what they are even if they have choose a different direction... Need to hear the last one to see how it sounds... hope not poor as Incipit...

It seems to me everyone complains about bands not being extreme enough and that we need more acts that frighten/envoke fear in everyone outside of the BM community. So Gorgoroth go out, play a fucking killer gig, have some seriously disgusting stage presence, cause a lot of problems with religious fuckers and all most people can do is bitch.

For me I give many fucking hailz to Gorogorth for doing this, even if it is for a DVD.... but that show is really nothing new. They have always put on a good show with lots of blood and spikes.

Bottom line-Gorgoroth Fucking KILL. Why would you not support these acts of Antichristian behavior! Getting it broadcasted to millions of people is even greater! Spread the fucking war! Stop complaining about it.

That's how did the concert at Krzemionki looked like. When it was finished the managing director called the Police.

Norwegian Gorgoroth's performance finished yesterday the two-day marathon of metal music in Krzemionki TV studio. It was being recorded for DVD realease for Metal Mind Productions. Organizers fortold it as the main attraction of the evening. They promised "special attractions" during the concert.Naked crosses Only after the musicians entered the stage it appeared how "special" the attractions were. Cadaverous look, cartridge belts, upside down crosses on chests and a cacophony of sounds. Ghaal, the vocalist, had long metal spikes on his arms. He was roaring the incomprehensible lyrics and sweeping the audience with a distant gaze. The stage was separated from the viewers with wire entanglements and impaled lambs' heads. In the background there were two big pentagrams (Satan's symbols)."Stench, noise and obscenity. I wanted to vomit but we had a job to do" – said one of the man working during the concert.The biggest impession on the audience, mostly adolescent, made 2 meter tall crosses on the stage. here to take part in this insanity" – told us ks.Baczyñski. (So typical! They would always ask priests when something is going on! – M.). He admitted also that the person responssible for the Gorgoroth's concert is also realizing masses for TV Kraków each
week and works during the Pope's pilgrimages.Police against Satanists Managing director Andrzej Jeziorek saw the recording on Monday. After consulting his lawyer he reported that to the Police. The tape was kept in order to decide whether the believers' religious feelings were offended. "We were only renting the studio. If I knew what is going to happen I would never allow it" - Jeziorek assures us. On Sunday he was outside Kraków. He did not answer the phone when the terrified producer was calling him (I wonder why... propably the reason was the same as the one for not discontinuing the gig. Money, money... –M.). We did not intend to offend anyone. If someone felt offended he will recieve apology. None of the viewers had any reservation. My company can't fully influence the artistic vision of the band. We offered them the fake lambs' heads but musicians wanted the real ones. Each and every band has its requirements. Models were from the actor's agency and they knew what are they going to take part in. The one who fainted got better soon and wanted to get back on stage. We decided it was not a good idea.

During the last evening's concert at Krzemionki TV studio, two naked models and a man (there were two of the guys! – M) appeared on the stage – all of them were hanging on the crosses and were covered with sheep's blood. The scenography was completed with dozens of impaled sheeps' heads, sheep's bowels and 80 litres of sheep's blood.

"After analysing the material realized for an external producer we decided to report to the Police that there is a possibility that peoples' religious feelings could have been offended" (definietely not the crowd's ones – M.)– said managing director of the Kraków's TV station, Andrzej Jeziorek.

Gorgoroth's concert was the last one of four other realized yesterday and started around 10 p.m. During the half-an-hour's break between the concerts the scenography was being built behind the curtain. As soon as the curtain went down the concert started.

TV studio workers reported to us they were horrified with the sight of naked people covered with blood hanging on the crosses. During the show one of the models fainted and an ambulance service had to intervene. The workers emphasized they were not feeling offended but really terrified.

"I belive it was a negative event. We think that this is unacceptable in Kraków. We are meeting on Wednesday to discuss the matter"– said Wies³aw Murzyn the managing director of the TV's "Solidarno¶æ" union..

Concert was recorded for Metal Mind Productions, a company from Katowice who was to release it as a DVD. It was not the first commission the Kraków TV got from MMP. TV's hosts emphasize there were never such misunderstandings earlier.

The chairman of MMP Tomasz Dziubiñski is surprised that the claim was laid. "Artists use different means of expression – an organizer usually has nothing to do with it. This kind of concerts have got the concrete audience – not accidental viewers. If someone felt offended we will apologize to him. We did not mean to offend anyone" - said Tomasz Dziubiñski (PAP)


Black mass in Polish TV?

Police is investigating whether during one of the recording sessions in Kraków's TV studio peoples' religious feelings were offended. During the recording of Norwegian metal band's Gorgoroth concert a real black mass took place (Yeah, sure... anyways, how the fuck do they know how does the "real black mass" look like? – M.). Naked models covered with sheep's blood hanging on the crosses appeared on the stage. Close to them there were impaled sheeps' heads and bowels. During the concert one of the models fainted and an ambulance service had to intervene.

TV workers who were in the building at that time were really indignant and horrified with things going on in the studio. Wies³aw Murzyn of "Solidarno¶æ" union claims that the TV managing directors are to blame for it because they were the ones who rent the studio. Recording was realized for Metal Mind Productions. TV managing directors explain they' ve been working for the company for many years. "However, never did such thing happened here before" - says Andrzej Czapliñski. "Last years concerts were not offensive to religious feelings or spreading any improper contents. Noone thought it may happen this time. If there were any suspicions I would never rent a studio"

Kraków's TV managing directors reported everything to the Police and public prosecutor's office (They are really exaggerating but that's typical of Poland when it comes to catholics – M.). Chairman of MMP promised to apologize to all the people who felt offended. (mag)

The maximum penalty for breaching the article is five years in prison.

A TV station in Krakow , which complained about the performance, had acquired broadcasting rights for the show , Kalinowska-Zajdak said, adding that the prosecutor might ask for Norwegian help in questioning group members.
