I was wondering what you people think about the scene over here in Portugal,normally when I ask foreigners about the scene here they only say "yeah,I know Moonspell,they suck,first mcd is good though",what the fuck,theres so many good bands over here,I do advice you fucking wankers to start knowing more about this scene...

First of all,there is a scene here yes for the ones who might think not,there isn´t many concerts or anything but theres a good amount of dedicated bands specially from Lisboa area,the reason why theres no gigs is because of people who are too "true" to show up and prefer to stay home talking crap like "theres no scene";"this and that band are a bunch of assholes" etc etc,typical shit,what´s interesting is that I consider it to be the same way everywhere,be it in whatever country,you just don´t come across that in Scandinavian contries maybe cos they just don´t fucking care,each does his own thing and is not trying to behave more important than the one next to him.Anyway,I do advice bands like :

-Mors Liberatrix (Old fashion Black metal,with some"Goatlord" influences,have one demo out)
-Inner Helvete (Brutal Black Metal,have a bunch of demos,split EP´s and one LP)
-InTyFlesh (Brutal Black Metal with some Antaeus influences,have several demos out)
-Raptus (old fashioned Black Metal,with old Dodheimsgard influences,have one demo out)

....simple you can´t undertand the music and you don´t need to understand it, you even don´t need to like it that is up to everyone´s self, but calling it poor is really 'poor' of you...and it seems for you it´s more important if the man behind the band is wearing 'true Black Metal fashion clothes' or how his hair looks like, than if he is really decicaded with his heart....I only want to say that if you don´t know the man behind the band you shouldn´t judge about him. I think a band has to start from somewhere,not everybody has the money to pay for a rehearsal place,not everybody has the money to record something professionally and even more dificult is to find for a decent drummer,specially in Portugal.
It´s simple to complain,it´s simple to say the opposite of every one else so just that one can feel cooler,anyway,wasn´t DarkThrone;Bathory etc etc who recorded several albums in edrooms,garages,wc´s etc ? come on people,don´t be such lame assholes.

and yes bathory etc has recorded in garages etc, but that was THEN ! when it all originated ! back then there wasent 1000 bands who needed to show that they are a part of something.

if you cant create anything worthwhile, then pratice,rehearse,pratice,rehearse, rehearse, rehearse THEN record it !

Yes I agree there is great band with drummachines (MYSTICUM, some THORNS, BLACKDEATH), on the other hand it's also true that a lot of people are playing with drum machines as it is easier for them to make stupid songs, but anyway with a real drummer it is the same.
So this is not the drum machine, the way of recording or the age of the bands members that is important, but the final atmosphere !!!!

In the Wacken Open Air metal market I saw a portuguese stand. I think it was Hiberica records. I don't have the contact here, but I saw some good thing on distro there, like Inquisition, Abyssic Hate, Decayed or Flagellum Dei.

I don't know many bands from this country, but I really like the work done by Flagellum Dei and Corpus Christii.

There are two bands forgotten all this time amongst the worthy ones: Acceptus Noctifer and Êxul. The first one is hateful and violent BM, while Êxul is more melodic with acoustic and classic parts.

This could be happening if most of the bands were crappy... but I don't think so... Although there's a lot of shit over here. It's a fact! But this happens in every country.

The difference is that in the past the Portuguese scene was a very "individualist" one. Now some kind of union is being created and the great proof of this fact is that Nightmare Prod. is going to release a compilation CD featuring 15 Lusitanian Black Metal bands. This will be surely the beginning of a new age for the Portuguese Black Metal scene. :iark:

The Portuguese Black Metal scene is growing day by day, I mean bands like CORPUS CHRISTII, DECAYED, INTHYFLESH, LUX FERRE and FLAGELLUM DEI are fuckin´ great! Fuck off all the pseudo gay posers that think that Moonspell are the only band in Portugal!! Moonspell have only two records that are worth to listen and I´m refering to Under the Moonspell and Wolfheart, the rest is crap!

Some people still buy compilations? I think the last one I bought was the great "Wine of Satan". I would never put money into getting a mix of bands when 90% of them are outrageously bad, and even when there is a good one, you just realise that you should have bought their full record instead. It sounds so stupid to get compilations out at the time of mp3! Ten years ago, we could just hear new bands and then saving money to buy the shitty ones, but today? Money, money, money. Money speaks and money rules. Next step, to be signed to Nuclear Blast or Sony. Compilation does not cost anything except the pressing: no studio, no promotion, no gigs. It is pure benefit for greedy labels.

Vinnum Dei Satanas is the best compilation I ever bought or heard... "Swarming Black Emotions"...

Corpse Molestation will remain one of the best bands ever.

The "Lusitânia Dark Horde" compilation is the the supreme proclamation of the union on the Portuguese Black Metal scene.

It has indeed a lot of great bands and songs... mainly because they are never to be re-released.
This is an underground release, so I think that the "money" factor is out of question... mainly because is cheap!! 15 exclusive tracks from 15 bands for 10€ is cheap enough!!

2-There are no commercial interests neither from the bands or distros,portugal have a small and yet growing scene,there is no market just an underground way of spreading the word,and that´s not only here,besides it´s simple to put aside whats true and honest and what´s futile and false of meanings

3-I recommend you to hear it before speaking(you could get surprised about the quality of the bands)

I have one demo of Dead Meat... Incredible ! Their instruments are not tuned, there is a girl singing totally out of tune, and they try to play some kind of very bizarre death metal with strange rhythms and strange structures... Well couldn't they learn to tune & play before releasing a demo ???

Why should we have to clean ? Posters make the quality of a thread, if a thread becomes boring, it's not up the the moderators to re-write the whole stuff, the board is not a webzine with scene reports.

Now everyone has introduced himself, I guess news have no interest in being thrown in this very thread in a "pot pourri" style.

This thread is to promote exclusively bands from Portugal,to give updates about releases and answering to some doubts some people may have,that´s it.

I see it more logical to open one thread per country than creating 157 new threads for each band that some people might want to know or to promote.

By the way,Coldness debut album is already being recorded and due to be out by Goatowax records in June/July.Expect some serious improvised sick shit.

I dunno...I think it'd be "clearer" if a thread per band was opened when there are news...I mean unless, there's no many new things to say all the time I don't think it would clutter at all... but yes I agree, if I'm not interested, I shouldn't click on this topic. I am interested in some bands, it's just hard for me in 15 pages to find out the news I'm interested in.

The problem, Mr. Horrendus, with this thread is that most of it is people ditching each other about their musical preferences and bands they like or do not like than really about spreading the word about portuguese black metal...I see very little promotion going on here, except of course for your own self promotion...

Some releases had been announced on here but never materialized... anything still to be expected?
