One Night in Bangkok will be the title of the shortly forthcoming live Lp !! They've just finished the mixing part, this is the third official live and as always it'll slay .................

Gelsenkirchen (may remind something to DPH, Rafff and Arkdaemon hehehehe) is the undisputed pearl of Germany – if you’re into heavy industry aesthetics, coal mining and soccer. Aside from its main exports (formerly black gold, nowadays laid-off coal miners), this quiet little community at the heart of the Ruhr area has yet another good to offer: virtually unnoticed by the public, a few sons of this industrial Babylon have gained the ardent fervor of the global metal scene: SODOM.
25 Years ago, three ambitious devotees of canned beer and heavy metal music had gathered to rise from the morbid working class moloch and inspire the world with their musical creation. Angelripper, Grave Violator and Witchhunter made every mother-in-law’s dream come true.

Proudly continuing the tradition of business icons like Motörhead, Venom and ‘German Sinatra’ Harald Juhnke, the guys’ musical talent those days never went much beyond blasting their amps after having gulped a whole crate of brew. Nevertheless, their concept of tormenting their instruments the quick and the dirty way, artfully blended with the rejection of all redundant complexity, worked out.

More than unconventional in the good old days, the sound of these three horsemen of the cultural apocalypse went extremely well with all those who considered Iron Maiden too demanding and Venom too slow.

Finally, SODOM made their pitch with Manni Schütz who signed them for his budding Steamhammer label. Outwardly impressed he declared: “These guys really suck – I have to make a record with them.”

Thus, Angelripper et al. piled a generous supply of booze plus several other tools one might need for a respectable recording session (call them “instruments”) into their old Opel Diplomat, locked themselves into the studio and went along to cut out their first EP, “In The Sign Of Evil”. The Rest is history.

But let’s catch up with the present. SODOM were the first thrash outfit to enter the German charts (with 89’s “Agent Orange” album), reaped a platinum award for over one million copies sold. As of yet, the band has been influencing countless thrash, death or black metal spin spin-offs and shredded almost every fucking stage on this planet to IKEA-style compressed wood during their tours.

However, one little spot in Southeast Asia had been spared so far: Bangkok, the Eastern jewel, better known as the ultimate holiday location for married middle-class businessmen (ever seen Patpong Road?) and for its myriads of tuk-tuks than for a music scene whose members express their solidarity by growing their hair and proudly wearing a uniform dress consisting of sleeveless denim jackets covered with various colourful patches

Nope M16 contains only ONE track coming from the 2 first demos......

I've listened 2 non mixed tracks and the result will be great !

Veteran German thrashers SODOM will be filming their appearance at this weekend's Bang Your Head Festival in Balingen, Germany for an upcoming DVD. The group, who also recorded their performance at the Rock Hard Festival earlier this month, are reportedly including in their set list a lot of the more obscure tracks which haven't been aired live in years.

SODOM's new double live album, "One Night In Bangkok", will be released on July 28 in Europe and on August 12 in the U.S.

Better ??? hmm all the 3 live Lps are great (plus), this one is just a good occasion to listen to some rarely played tracks (if you don't have so much bootlegs in your possession) and it contains one track of the forthcoming Lp and it sounds good.

So the cd version is out, the Lp version will soon be released and now the DVD version of the show is planned to be released. Just an objection this ugly cover in big size (Lp version).

One Night in Bangkok? I received a promo of that CD about... 6 months ago I think. I thought it was already released. Proves me wrong I guess. Damn, it's taken some time.

I remember though that it was great indeed. Will have to dig up the promo again.

I didn't open a new thread, but my last post was about the forthcoming live Dvd and the next studio album.

One night .... is an 'old' story now it has been released last year.

Ah. My mistake then. Should have checked the dates on the other posts.
