After months of impatient waiting, Oaken Throne 6 is finally available for wholesale ordering. Oaken Throne 6 is without a doubt our biggest and finest issue yet, with a massive 96 page count.
The 13 bands profiled are: Akitsa, Aluk Todolo, Avsky, Dead Raven Choir, Dialing In, Gnaw Their Tongues, Immolation, IXXI, Lugubrum, Necros Christos, Necrovation, Throneum, and Vargr, plus 7 1/2 pages of reviews.
Oaken Throne 6 is filled with exclusive illustrations by Metal’s finest artists, our cover being drawn by David Vincent D’Andrea, with additional illustrations by Justin Bartlett, Marek Colek, Chris Parry, Jeff Smack, Scott Langlais, Adam Watson, and photography by Ben West.
Like OT5, Oaken Throne 6 is accompanied by a professionally printed and mastered compact disc, containing a previously released track by each artist profiled (although the Nordvargr track is thus far exclusive). The cd is inserted into a pro-printed cardboard sleeve (with artwork by Marek Colek), and the zine and cd are inserted into a resealable polypropylene bag. OT6 is printed to the same unique 7x7 inch format as the previous three issues, its cardstock covers the same silver-onblack as has become the Oaken Throne trademark.
Unfortunately, even as print publications struggle during these difficult economic times, the cost of producing those publications has increased. To that end, the wholesale (5 copies or more) cost of Oaken Throne 6 has increased to $6 per issue. I profusely apologize in advance for this exorbidant cost, but I honestly believe that even at this price, Oaken Throne 6 is a worthy purchase.

After years of requests, two different Oaken Throne Tshirts have been printed in limited quantities. These low-resolution images do not do them justice. They are gorgeous shirts.
Shirts are $12 each, plus shipping. Shipping will vary according to the other items in your order. I’m glad to sell individual shirts, add $2 for First Class shipping Domestic, $6.45 for First Class shipping International.
Shirts!
Design 1 is the cover artwork from Oaken Throne 6, drawn by David Vincent D’Andrea.
• Printed on Army Green American Apparel 100% cotton Tshirts, 75 available in Men’s Large and 25 in Men’s Medium.
Design 2 is one of Chris Parry’s MOSS illustrations from Oaken Throne 4
• Printed on Asphalt Gray American Apparel 100% cotton Tshirts, 75 available in Men’s Large and 25 available in Men’s Medium.
In addition to Oaken Throne 6 and the shirts, limited amounts of Oaken Throne 5 and Oaken Throne 4 are still available. I’m down to my last boxes, and expect to sell out quickly. Pricing for all three issues is as follows:
Pricing
Base wholesale* pricing for Oaken Throne 4, 5, 6:
(*quantities of 5 or more. Additional costs are applied for fewer than 5 copies purchase, contact Ben West with questions)
5 copies of OT6= $30 + shipping (wholesale is $6 each, includes sleeved cd, packaged in resealable polypropylene bag)
5 copies of OT5= $22.50+ shipping (wholesale is $4.50 each, includes sleeved cd, packaged in resealable polypropylene bag)
5 copies of OT4= $17.50+ shipping (wholesale is $3.50 each, this issue does not come with a cd, and is not packaged in bag)
Additional information:
Paypal can be sent to ben@benwestdesign.net. It’s a good idea to touch base with me in advance if ordering shirts of back issues. If paying by paypal, I ask your permission to add half the paypal fee to your invoice. Paypal is a convenience for both buyer and seller, and I believe the fee should be split evenly between the two. I am not eager to trade at the moment, aside from the trades already established with advertisers. I may be open to select trades in the future. Thanks in advance for your support. I am always glad to answer questions. Simply contact Ben West at ben@benwestdesign.net.

It honestly doesn’t make sense to order either more than 5, or fewer than 15 copies internationally, due to the EXTREME cost of shipping. Up to 15 zines fit into Priority Mail Regular Flat-Rate Boxes (possibly more if the order contains more copies of OT4 than OT5 or OT6)
Add $39.85 postage to wholesale price of zines, found on pg 3.

Contact Ben West for price. The only reasonable option is Priority Mail International shipping. Roughly $49 for 20 zines (8.5 lbs)

Just arrived today, we've had lots of requests for this hence the newsletter. Finally, the new issue is here! There has been tons of interest in this zine, especially over the last 2 years and all the word of mouth recommendations have been directly related to the intense quality and craftsmanship these guys have put into Oaken Throne since issue #1 (some of you might perhaps remember the first 2 issues being like 5 feet tall?). Issue #6 is another 7x7 formatted work of art and they managed to step up the quality yet again this time ditching the staples and adding the extra class of making everything spinebound. Interviews this issue include: Akitsa, Aluk Todolo, Avsky, Dead Raven Choir, Dialing In, Gnaw Their Tongues, Immolation, IXXI, Lugubrum, Necros Christos, Necrovation, Throneum and Vargr. As with the last issue, #6 also includes a compilation CD containing tracks from all the interviewed artists. A whopping 96 pages presented with the usual stellar offset printed covers. The wholesale price went up this time around (as expected) so we are forced to charge more than ever before for one issue but be assured that it is damn well worth every penny.

Any Finnish distributors getting this?

Mors Dalos Ra had this to say:
Salutem John,
I got the OT6 issue and what can I say? Thank you, I`m speechless. It`s not only one of the best articles ever unleashed about Necros Christos, also the layout is perfect. Please forward this e-mail to Mister DePalma and Mister West as well saying, that I`m 100% satisfied with the presentation of my band within your pages. I can hardly see another "Zine" putting so much visual and lyrical effort in their issues as OT.
Regarding Finnish distros, I'm not sure. It depends on if we got any hits or requests for the new issue. Sorry to be so vague...if I do hear of a Finnish distro getting/taking copies I will let you know.

Aquarius Records review:
It's finally here, the latest issue of one of the best magazines going, Oaken Throne, specializing in the grim black metal underground, but gradually expanding their scope to cover all things dark and heavy and droney, definitely our kind of rag, and yours too judging from how many we sell, and how many emails we've been getting asking about this new issue. The latest issue has indeed arrived, and is mindblowing as always, bigger than ever, now a perfect bound 7" x 7" book style mag, the covers printed silver metallic ink on black cardstock, as always, a gorgeous tUMULt ad on the back cover (designed by OT designer Ben West) and inside tons of aQ faves and then some.
Canadian black metallers Akitsa, French metallic post rockers Aluk Todolo (featuring members of Gunslingers and Diamatregon), Swedish black metal duo Avsky, long time aQ favorite, Dialing In, weird black doomscapers Gnaw Their Tongues, Polish black metal folk freak Dead Raven Choir, legendary death metallers Immolation, Swedish black metal supergroup IXXI (featuring members of Ondskapt, Lifelover, Dimhymn and Zavorash), Dutch brown metal weirdos Lugubrum, Nordvargr's black metal incarnation Vargr, legendary Polish black metallers Throneum, German blackened death metallers Necros Christos and Swedish death metallers Necrovation.
The layout and design is fantastic, with illustrations by Justin Bartlett, Ben West, Adam Watson, Scott Langlais, Chris Parry, as well as tons of striking photography, plenty of reviews, and loads of ads for stuff you need. Pretty much ace all the way through. And as if the magazine on its own wasn't enough, it also comes with a cd featuring a track by every single band covered in this issue, two of 'em (for now at least) exclusive to this comp.
The price of OT has gone up slightly, but holy shit is it ever worth it. This is the kind of magazine you'll save forever, that will sit on your bookshelf with the BOOKS, not in a pile with the rest of the magazines, OT is something you'll read over and over, and odds are, eventually you'll need to at least check out all the artists covered. So totally recommended. We're already looking forward to the next issue!

Yes, very intense record! Like the solo's. These days people speak about a Thrash revival, but I haven't heard one band that is equal to the 80's bands, except: Razor Of Occam.

Vordr,
Yes, I agree. I just got it and it is very intense indeed. Thanks for the reply. Shrapnel is quite a guitarist. I think he is overlooked due to his underground stature. His style is very emotive in my opinion unlike most thrash/speed players.
Got mine yesterday, excellent work!

As it have been said earlier, this must be one of the best 'zines I've ever read. Texts are very well-taught and -executed, and same goes with the visual side. Even though not all the bands are favourites of mine, they definitely got the attention they deserve.
Inspiring work, keep going!

Excellent. Thank you for your response and your support, sir.
Profound Lore had this to say:
"In an age where print is (supposedly) dying, and costs rising, we cannot stress the importance of zines like Oaken Throne. This is art."
They now have copies available in their distro...
