Does anyone like this Greek funeral doom band? I haven't heard them, but seems interesting from the reviews I've read. I guess there are pianos and some parts called "beautiful." Anyway, I'm just looking for something different than the usual. What release would be recommended?

Don't know what you understand as "usual" but I think these Funeral doom bands are worthy to check out:

Nortt
Elysian Blaze
Dictator
Necro Shizma
Mournful Congrargation
Blood of the black owl
Bunkur

I have Nortt's Graven and Ligfaerd, great stuff for sure. How is the last album? I have Mournful Congregation's "The Monad of Creation" and I think it's just brilliant. I've heard a long Bunkur track on a compilation tape, and it was alright. Heard their full length album was good, will have to check out more. The others I haven't heard, but I'll keep them in mind.

I will definitely check out Tomb Of... then.

I think the old Nortt stuff is still the best.
New cd from Mournful Congregation is absolutely fantastic!

Heidens Hart (a dutch mailorder) still carries some of the Tomb of... tapes.

Speaking of Funeral Doom, I was totally blown away with WIJLEN WIJ s/t album! Raw and majestic, like sinking into emerald-green viscous void. And extremely beautiful as well. Totally recommended.

You're right about that! Some of the Wijlen Wij members are also in Pantheist but I find them much less interesting.

Yeah, I'm aware it's just a studio side-project. I'm not a huge fan of Funeral Doom in general, but this band simply killed...

Tomb of... has some interesting moments in its discography but i think sometimes the music is too much "ambient" to be considered doom.
