Curious to see how will this sound without Necromorbus playing nor producing.

No one said that...
After 2 almost perfect releases I hope my expectations won't be too high.
And (ok I know it's not realistic) some FM gigs would be the perfect complementary news to me.
I have no words, just - !!!!!!
am I right, Arioch on vox&guitars now?

As opposed to...? I am looking forward to this. I like how he blitzed us with the announcement.
Fuck me sideways. Finally.
THIS will be very interesting

salvation is still the best album of all time
looking VERY much foward to this
Necromorbus was a key factor in "Salvation", so I wonder how this will turn out.
And nice with the title, was surprised.

theres so much vokal layering,so live would be difficult but yes rather than no would be a good answer
dislike the design of the cover, logo too present compared to what the've done previously. hope that's a rough.

i like the idea, but its alot "less complex" than it could have been
it would take some minutes to do that on photoshop
This should be interesting. Salvation was good, but I prefer the Devilry mcd.
Well the cover is nice , although i think that the logo could be a bit more transparent or something. Anyway who really cares ? The only thing that counts is ... NEW FUNERAL MIST ALBUM

nice title.. am curious
The album already spread on the net. It's nowhere near "Salvation" on all levels. The major drawback is the drumming, now it's pretty "standard" and sounding like Marduk most of the times. Vocals are less complex with a flat sound production for the rest of the instruments. It has some amazing riffs, but the overall feeling of the album lacks this extra punch of intensity/density that Salvation had. This one is much simpler, but a good album nevertheless.

Hope your wrong on this one. Otherwise it would be another dissapointment after the last Ofermod release!
I hope so too. That was the impression on the first listen... my second listen now. The album tries so hard to capture the "Salvation" feeling, yet sounding way too "thin" sadly. But well, just my humble opinion, might sound great for others, especially for those who do not like a band to evolve in sound.
There are some drawbacks regarding the production. But hell, I can't help be impressed. Easily on the top 5 list of 2009. And it's February.
Just for "Jesus saves", this album is simply immense.
Yeah, "Jesus Saves", "White Stone" and the epic "A New Light" are definitely the stand outs on this album and are enough to make this album damn worth buying! If only the Necromorbus GROOVE was there!!!! The sound lacks serious bass sadly.
I think it's great! I'm looking forward to hear it with proper sound quality though, I'm not judging from these shitty mp3s.
It's not sounding much like "Salvation", but it's still excellent. I think everything flows better now, and it's more straight and simple than their last album. Curious to hear whatever ridiculous critisism people will come up with...
I actually like the production more this time around. Drums are nowhere as messy and guitars are more pronounced... However I agree that it could use a bit more bass.
"Blessed curse" is pretty epic.

This album is a monster, quite different from "Salvation" but it doesn't mean it got any worse, far from it. I don't mind the somewhat rawer production, it fits the overall atmosphere very well. I couldn't pick one song, everything's just amazing... I'd say it even surpasses my expectations.

For my part, I would pick one song, and it would be "A New Light", great stuff.
One thing for sure, "Maranatha" is not "Salvation - part. 2", for better or for worse. It's different, now let's see how this monster will grow.
I dig the thin and cold sound, fits perfectly. More groove and bass would make it less extreme.
for me it is the weakest recording in discography.
Yes, there're some great riffs, but other 90% of recording consist of regular bm riffs or just boring riffs. Total dissapointment for me.
"Blessed curse" is pretty epic.
My mistake, I meant this track instead of "New Light" in my previous post.
It's indeed epic.. the drums on it remind me of Burzum "Det Som...".

it sounds more like devilry in the first half..while more like salvation towards the end
i think we should all be grateful that a man like arioch has been able to be so fairly prolific these days.Truly an incredible performer...the end of the 7th track is just total audio evil, and its very provoking with satanic intent, all safety has fallen.I cant wait for the proper release to read the lyrics.

the production could be better,i think, but its hard not to get excited about this album. The white stone is like some of the experimental side seen on rom 5:12 show its face again,i welcome it
the Ederlezy chorus on Anti-Flesh Nimbus was quite a surprise
but its a GREAT album, cant wait to hear it in proper form!
the cover could have been much better though...
Strange, I remember a time when people started discussing the music of an album AFTER its release date.
Maybe me being outdated somehow... Time traveling machines seem to do a good job today...
...And they used to discuss music through mags' columns and through mail.
...And people used to light a candle and live in huge halls afraid of the wind sounds blowing outside.
... And they used to think that the earth is flat.
Etc.. etc...
I wonder why you're using Internet. Time traveling machines seem to do a good job today indeed.
Who took care of the drumming?

Yes, imagine there are ppl who don't hear difference between 320kbps & audio CD! :D Poor things...
P.S. Haven't heard the album, of corpse.

Yes, pre-orders started to arrive yesterday.
Got the cd today! And I must say I really like it also production wise.

I remember people start to talk about an album as soon as they were listening to it. It's always been like that.
Today some assholes upload to the internet, back then adv tape copies were making their rounds...
advance tape copies would also take some weeks or so due to postal services
just went faster
and anyway 99% of those downloading the album won't get the disc anyway
I'll wait for the cd myself, next month or so

an mp3 is by definition a compressed archive.
to compress something, you take things off...
in other words, theres a huge difference between an audio CD/LP and an mp3 archive
no matter how good was the rip

the people who will not buy the release coz they downloaded it would not buy it anyway,
since they are not all that interested in it and/or are not willing to spend money for it.
which is not the case with the fuckers posting here (or so I think?)
besides, the whole visual aspect is missing. no layout, no lyrics just a jpeg of the front cover
great riffs, great voice, great album: I'm not surprised since we're talking about Arioch
"A new light" is one of the best Funeral Mist tracks, this riff in my head aaaaaargh

It gets way off topic, but mp3 works because it removes the parts the listener can't hear.
Anyway, I fucked myself twice today with a download of this album, and I've got a wholesale order of it coming my way.
It's the same as with the first, it grows with every listen...
If someone is stupid enough to like an album and sticks to the mp3 format is his/her problem. As for me, I download first and then decide if the album is worth buying or not. In this case, I already placed an order.
Mp3s are a great way to know how to spend your hard earned cash wisely :)
And btw, there's something called FLAC now, and it's pretty much similar to the CD quality, in case some of you are lacking technology updates. No need to go into details and say how shitty a CD is in the first place and what kind of compression it has. Music should be nowadays on blue ray with a 24 bit compression to get the real deal anyway. Plus no need to mention that 90% of those listeners have fucked up sound systems to begin with. So playing an mp3 or flac or a CD wont change much for them.
So guys take it easy, as you sound like some Islamic fanatics preaching the word of god in hand written form and not in a digital one!
This album is damn good, but I still prefer if Necromorbus was behind the kit, he certainly left a hole.
*.OGG files are already very near CD quality. I think when you really like a cd, even you have download it, you'll buy sooner or later! For the sound quality but of course for the booklet and so.

anything with arioch on board will have great packaging/layout etc.
Received.
What a bunch of shitty interventions I've read here.... Pure Funeral Mist, even production wise. It reminds me of Devilry, less "compact" than Salvation but still a killer release. A "whole" from Jesus saves to anti-flesh nimbus.
Recieved.
The production really fits and the entire album sounds amazing. Blessed Curse is an absolutely tremendous song.
The LPs seem to have the wrong labels on them though as Blessed Curse and Living Temples and Jesus Saves & A New Light seem to have swapped places during the disc labelling.

Killer Killer Killer!! ABSOLUTELY Funeral Mist. Agree with Mr. Krieg, except for the production part. It is a lot less chaotic and more clear than "Salvation".

Well, this is probably the first time I say in public that I'm envious... I won't hear this album in few months, I guess. C'mon, lick off my rotten tears!

Not sure why all the bitching about this release. It kills. Yes, different from "Salvation" and excels for this fact. I do not hear any issues with the production. It is perfect. There are so many highpoints on this effort and I applaud Arioch for taking some chances with varied riffs and more space as compared to "Salvation." Once again, he delivers an excellent release.
The complaints regarding the cover art are laughable to say the absolute least. That someone would convey judgment upon a release due to the placement of the logo...boggles the mind.
The art perfectly fits with the music.
Cannot wait to see the DLP version!
Listened to the tracks. It sounds great, but I feel the vocals are not as intense as on the past two albums, but maybe with more listens I'll change my mind.
Now after some hours of listening to this album, I can't understand, why some people were able to write shit like "boring",etc.
This is pure funeral Mist!
It fucks me more with every listening!
Just received it, pure Funeral Mist! An amazing album from a till z! Some unexpected moments and realy surprising tunes here and there. As some of you, I do not understand those people throwing useless critics saying it sucks, its not FM, Salvation is better, this sucks... Its exactly the same style, the same aura and you recognize directly Funeral Mist and not a Marduk alike band. You can indeed hear a difference regarding the drumming concepts and the production, but well, as long as it fits the whole package who gives a shit??
and luckerly its no Salvation part2 as its not supposed to be the case, but another chapter of the Funeral mist evangelivm!

Finally listening to it now....
2d track and side 3&4 of the LP are just amazing. This album is much easier to get into than Salvation, which is not a bad thing. Lots of great atmospheres, the vocals are still amazing. But yes, I would probably have found it better with a more powerful production.
Anyway, this album is still and will remain a highlight, in the middle of all the shits released these days.

A fucking great album. I'm really glad they didn't try to make Salvation part 2.
And as for the whole mp3 argument in this thread

Review from TEO:
"This album just lives up to its expectations and beyond. A new wave of pure Funeral Mist after a couple of years in silence. Still the same old vile and aggressive Funeral Mist, brought with some new diversity here and there. All of them giving this album all the more depth and structure. Brilliant sharp riffing once again, that immediately grab you by the throat and choke every last generic breath out of you. Spewing contempt for any soulless, choirboy degeneration through a vast amount of bile grunting prayers in glorification of the path of Anathema Maranatha and the dividing of the self into the unholy sacrament.
This albums has more change-ups between playing styles going from the known fast and aggressive riffs, to more sinister build-up acoustic sections. Like Salvation, this is all mixed together with some magnificent, fitting samples. Examples of this are the great openers of tracks such as “Sword of Faith” and “Blessed Curse” followed up by an empowering pre-chorus. Even a few mid- to down-tempo tracks like “White Stone” and “Blessed Curse” create a veritable atmosphere of agonizing liberation. Entangled among the other tracks that rest within a more furious nature of Funeral Mist’s capabilities, this album truly is another epic opus.
In the end after having listened to it over and over, I’m admiring the orchestration throughout the album as well, making the entire thing sound like one long track of an infernal and macabre medieval play."
