I wondered if some people here know more about Velvet Cacoon from the US, I have been looking for their releases everywhere but nothin to be found. They are on Blazing, but he himself has troubles contacting them and has no releases of them.

All releases have been self-financed and no contact is 'publicly' known. So maybe here someone has any contact or releases of them? Very good obscure BM...

Isn't this the band that uses a VERY weird way of recording their guitar-sound?

(Something with a gigantic fishtank?)

I don't have any physical cds by VC, but if you like, I can provide a link to download "Music For Falling Buildings" (demo) and "Dextronaut" (full length).

From Blazing Prod. about Velvet Cacoon:

"It is here in the bands private studio in Nob Hill where clandestine recording methods allow Velvet Cacoon to experiment with an array of unconventional techniques, most significantly in 2000, when the band developed a guitar which functions off of the collected pressure of gasses from the flames of diesel gasoline instead of traditional electric pickups. The sounds are then channeled through a fiber optic cord into a 40 gallon aquarium where vibrato sensors record the final outcome. It has become Velvet Cacoons trademark sound, and in it you can hear everything from swirling voices to fireworks to harps, violas, and a myriad of netherworldy sounds which have no default definition. Velvet Cacoon make it no secret that they are addicted to only the strangest methods of musical creation and ambience."

From what I hear, they haven't actually "released" anything. Recordings were only given to friends, or something along those lines.

I've also been told that their recordings are available on file-sharing systems like Soul Seek, but I can't confirm that.

Of course, I don't doubt that they have recordings. It's just a matter of getting them that seems to be the issue.

I've heard a lot of hype about this band, and wouldn't mind hearing them, but I'm not about to hunt it down simply because only a handful of people have ever heard them.

Burning diesel oil to create guitar sounds is not very green peace hippie loving crap, like they claim to be huh ?

Decent music, but a shame that they got a vocalist thats even worse than the one of Andras.

A bit hypocritical, true, but they (being part of E.L.F.) are more focused on stopping man's encroachment upon the land (forests, primarily). And to the best of my knowledge they've never claimed to part of Green Peace and have certainly never labeled themselves as "hippies".

Interesting project, indeed. I always wondered if they were part of the ELF, haha...

I do know some of their releases are on soulseek...originals are nowhere to be found.

I couldn't remember the name (E.L.F) so i used the green peace name to replace it.
